To Resolve Trauma,
Regulate Your Nervous System &
Manage Chronic Stress
At Rooted Therapy, we work with both the mind and the body to help women process stress, trauma, grief, and the experiences that have shaped how you move through the world.
Somatic therapy is a body-based approach that helps you notice, understand, and work with the patterns your nervous system has developed in response to stress and life experiences.
Somatic therapy can be helpful for people navigating:
Our experiences, especially our early ones, shape how we see ourselves and the world around us.
Your nervous system learned how to protect you based on what you experienced. These adaptations made sense at some point. They helped you survive.
Now, the strategies that protected us in the past aren’t serving us anymore.
Somatic Experiencing is about slowing down and noticing what is actually happening in your body. We get curious about the sensations and messages your body is sending instead of immediately ignoring, judging, or trying to push them away.
Your body is constantly communicating with you.
We just have to learn how to listen and respond.
There is no pressure to be anyone other than who you are at that moment.
This practice is for real women when life gets messy, chaotic, complicated, and loud.
In this space, we can laugh, cry, joke, get angry, or say the thing you’ve been afraid to say out loud. Nothing is off limits.
I won’t curb my personality just because I’m your therapist. I’m a human being with life experience and opinions. I want you to feel comfortable showing up as the real you, not the version of yourself you think you’re supposed to present.
Women are judged at a deeper level. Society teaches women to swallow their feelings: don’t be too emotional, keep it together, push through. We dismiss women’s pain and emotions.
Even when something’s wrong, the medical field ignores women’s very real symptoms. We’re often told it’s normal or hormonal.
Many of my clients come to me carrying years of shame, criticism, grief, stress, and the expectation that they should be able to handle it all.
Rooted Therapy is a space for women who are ready to understand themselves more deeply, heal generational wounds, and change patterns that no longer serve them.
You’ve read the self-help books.
You’ve tried mindfulness practices like yoga and journaling. You’ve learned a lot, but you’re still not seeing the changes you want.
Talk therapy didn’t land for you. Maybe the silence felt awkward, or you felt like you were telling the same stories over and over again. Or maybe talk therapy helped for a while, but the coping strategies are no longer working.
You’re tired of feeling this way and want to understand what’s happening. You’re ready to do the work to create real change.
Traditional talk therapy can only take a person so far. You talk about the event(s) over and over again, but never feel better.
Talking through our experiences can give us clarity, perspective, and a better understanding of where our patterns come from, but it doesn’t change how you feel and react.
Think about it. How many times have you vented to your girlfriends over a glass of wine? You’ve told the same stories, rehashed your childhood, or reanalyzed a relationship. And yet, the same reactions keep showing up.
That’s because understanding something intellectually and experiencing it in your body are two different things.
We all have stories about why we are the way we are.
Many women can trace their current struggles back to childhood relationships or the messages they received growing up. Those stories can shape what we expect from ourselves and the world around us.
Somatic Therapy is about getting curious about the messages coming from your body, not just what we “think” about ourselves. Learn more about Somatic
One of the things people worry about when starting talk therapy is sitting in a room with someone who just nods at them. That’s not me.
I’m not going to sit there and blindly agree with everything you say. I’ll challenge you, ask the difficult questions, and facilitate your healing.
